New in Town: Maison De Riz – World Chef God’s affordable S$8.80 kiosk opens in Holland Village

The “World Chef God” meets fast food? That’s exactly the concept of Maison De Riz by renowned international cuisine master Chef Chan Wai Keung. Chef Chan previously helmed Mott 32 at Marina Bay Sands but is now bringing the exquisite taste and premium touch to affordable casual dining.

Designed as a take-out kiosk and with dishes priced from just S$8.80, Maison De Riz focuses on giving foodies a touch of premium wok hei without asking them to spend too much or wait too long for their meal.

Many Singaporeans will be familiar with its Cantonese-style stir fries. The difference is that every component can be customised to your liking.

Firstly, you have a choice between Fried Rice and Fried Noodles. There are 3 different types of rice— Fragrant Jasmine Rice, Brown Rice and Japanese Rice— and 4 types of noodles— E-mien, Ramen, Udon and Thick Bee Hoon.

Step 2 determines your choice of eggs and there are 5 to choose from, including Kampung Egg (+S$1) and Salted Egg Yolk. That’s followed by your choice of meat or seafood. Among the popular choices are Char Siew, Salmon (+S$2) and Smoked Duck.

Chef Chan has spent considerable time and effort during his European travels in the study of sauces. Experience for yourself the fruits of those labours with Step 4, where you choose between 10 sauces that include XO (+S$1), Truffle (+S$1) and Lao Gan Ma.

The final flourish is with the toppings where 7 choices await. Among them, you will find Fish Roe (+S$1), Chicken Floss and Ebi Sakura. Diners can add additional meat or seafood for S$2 and additional egg, sauce and toppings for S$1.

Each order is packed in a special takeaway box designed to preserve the wok hei until you are ready to eat.
