Don’t visit these markets & hawker centres slated for spring cleaning in Aug 2024

What? It feels just like yesterday that I wrote about the 20 places that closed in July. Yes, I’m back once again with my 8th instalment of our monthly hawker centre cleaning series for 2024.

On a daily basis, strings of people visit wet markets and food centres for a variety of reasons: housewives buying ingredients for their home-cooked meals, chefs buying produce for their restaurants, university students getting their lunch fix— the list goes on.

Just like us, these places need to maintain their hygiene levels. After all, we ARE talking about food here—  I can’t fathom the thought of purchasing my vegetables or eating my plate of wanton mee at a dirty place.
