How important is cleanliness and hygiene at eating places in Singapore? Very important, if you ask me. Whenever I visit a hawker centre, nothing turns me off more than a dining area that’s dirty, oily, and poorly maintained.

All thanks to the NEA and town councils, food centres around Singapore are scheduled to undergo major washing every few months to keep the place clean. Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve officially made it to August and without further ado, here’s a list of the 20 hawker centres and markets that will be closed for spring cleaning in August 2026.
