There are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes and McDonald’s releasing their Samurai Burger every year. Yes, it’s that time of the year again.

In a post on Facebook, McDonald’s teased netizens about its return on 22 Sep 2022 at 11am. The teaser was met with excitement, with many requesting for it to be a permanent item on the menu.

There have also been hints on the return of this much-beloved burger in the form of posters around McDonald’s outlets all over the island.

The Samurai Burger usually comes with beef or chicken options, as well as single or double patty versions. These patties are then generously smothered with sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce, which often leads to a messy but satisfied experience. It is also doused with mayonnaise and topped with lettuce to even out its umami flavor. Fluffy sesame buns are used to sandwich the savoury goodness.

It is also often paired with the equally, if not more popular Seaweed McShaker Fries, which are fries seasoned with seaweed powder. However, there are no news of its availability yet.

Typically, both the Samurai Beef Burger and Samurai Chicken Burger are priced from S$6.20. For the complete Samurai experience, it usually has a Samurai Beef Special Meal set (typically from S$9.10) that includes a Single Samurai Beef Burger, Seaweed McShaker Fries, and a medium-sized Jasmine Green Tea which helps offset the bold flavors of the meal.

The Samurai Burger is just one of McDonald’s many seasonal items that Singaporeans look forward to, with the list including the Prosperity Burger, Breakfast McGriddle’s, Hokkaido Salmon Burger and the Chocolate Pie.
