Most Singaporeans would have fond memories of going to the Night Safari as a child. But when was the last time that you went there? If you can’t recall, now might be the time to visit it. This is because the Night Safari is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

On 26 May 1994, Mr Goh Chok Tong, the then Singapore Prime Minister opened the Night Safari. The idea for the Night Safari came about in 1985 when Mr Goh enjoyed a night tour at the Zoo so much that he proposed regular night tours, to be termed ‘Singapore Safari’.

The world’s First Night Safari was designed to replicate the excitement of being one with the wilderness at night.

From 24 May to 8 Sep, embark on a magical adventure as you travel back in time to learn about the park’s transformation, navigate new additions along the safari trails, and enjoy 30 specially curated activities and deals.

For Night Safari’s 30th anniversary, local residents can get 2 tickets at S$30 each.

Here are some event highlights that night owls shouldn’t miss out on.

1. From Past to Present (24 May – 8 Sep, 7.15 pm – 12 am)

At East Lodge, learn about the fascinating evolution of Night Safari through a specially curated display, containing stories and photographs contributed by their guests and staff.

Hear the engaging tales and lesser-known facts of Night Safari as you travel back in time!

2. Night Safari Shhh-ecret Trail (24 May – 8 Sep, 7 pm – 11 pm)

Embark on a journey to uncover shhh-ecrets about the Night Safari in its first 30 years! Tackle the missions on the digital trails at the Entrance Courtyard and East Lodge.

Upon completion, claim one of four memorial pins, featuring Night Safari’s creatures of the night. The celebratory pins are on a while stocks last and first-come-first-served basis.

3. Creatures of the Night: Night Safari 30th Anniversary Edition (Daily, 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm & 9.30 pm)

Be bewildered as wildlife such as the Asian small-clawed otters and fennec fox take to the stage to perform. Look out for new additions, including the raccoon dog and bearded pigs.

Held at the Night Safari Amphitheatre, learn more about animal conservation and sustainability with their evasive nocturnal creatures in this magnificent presentation.

Go on a nostalgic journey down memory lane with an exclusive montage during the Creatures of the Night presentation, featuring iconic animal stars from Night Safari.
