I think we can all agree that it’s been especially hot in Singapore lately. It’s times like this that you simply want to cool off with a cold drink or dessert.

Fortunately, the folks over at King’s Ice Cream have come up with a new potong ice cream flavour. It’s now available in Singapore, so keep your eyes peeled for this new flavour.

Introducing the first-ever Potong Signature Onde Onde (S$1.20/piece, S$6.90/box of six) ice cream.

I bet you must be wondering, how on earth does one incorporate ondeh-ondeh into ice cream?

Well, King’s has actually deconstructed the classic kueh and recombined its elements into their signature potongs.

The outermost layer of the potong is made of fragrant pandan. This gives the ice cream a light green hue, resembling the actual ondeh-ondeh.

The middle layer actually contains pandan and coconut-flavoured ice cream.

I’ve always been a huge fan of coconut-flavoured ice cream and the distinct lemak flavour of coconut milk always hits the spot.

With pandan in the mix as well now, I can only imagine how aromatic and addictive it’ll be.

Also, we all know that a mark of good ondeh-ondeh is if gula melaka simply oozes out in our mouths.

King’s has attempted to recreate that by injecting liquid gula melaka into the core of the ice cream. So as you take a bite out of the potong, rich and decadent gula melaka will ooze out spectacularly.

With this new Onde Onde potong ice cream, I can now have my one of my favourite kuehs as a cold dessert. What a way perfect way to beat this crazy heat!
