New in town: One Punggol Hawker Centre finally opens its doors, featuring over 34 stalls

With the recent inauguration of One Punggol Community Club on 9 October 2022, I’m sure there was one common question that popped up in the minds of Punggol residents: “When will the One Punggol Hawker Centre be officially ready?” Well, it looks like the genie in the bottle has granted your wishes; the food centre officially opened its doors on 31 October 2022.

The hawker centre is located on the second floor of One Punggol Community Club, recognisable from afar with its striking orange facade, just directly across SAFRA Punggol.

First impressions, the layout resembled Fernvale Hawker Centre and Market which I visited just three months ago, but it was airier with tons of natural sunlight illuminating the massive space— I shall cut to the chase and spill the beans on what’s there to makan here!

The first stall which caught my eye was No. 25 Minced Meat Noodle (#02-28), which had a long queue. For the uninitiated, its flagship stall is located at Bukit Merah. Some of the items on the menu are Minced Meat Noodle Dry (S$4 for small, S$6 for large), Seafood Abalone Noodle (S$12) and Taiwan Meatball Soup (S$5).

Eng Kee Chicken Wings (#02-34) has set up a branch here as well, and is well-known for its crispy and juicy chicken wings and fried bee hoon with assorted ingredients.

75 Ah Balling Peanut Soup (#02-13) is famed for serving glutinous rice balls with various fillings like peanut, sesame and matcha. There are also various soup options like peanut, almond milk and ginger.

Prices of the dishes served at these two stalls are not yet listed as they’re still busy setting up.

Michelin Bib Gourmand hawker stall, Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge (#02-19), has also set up a branch here. Its original stall is located at Newton Food Centre. The menu includes Sliced Fish Porridge (S$6.50 for small, S$8.50 for large) and Fried Fish Soup (S$6.50 for small, S$8.50 for large).

The only drink stall I spotted at One Punggol Hawker Centre was Tuck Shop (#02-32/33). Besides the usual drinks, they had hip selections like Mocha Tarik (S$1.60), NESLO (S$1.80), Iced Bandung Cincau (S$2) and Iced Blueberry w/ Longan (S$2.50).

Those who love toast can get their fix of Kaya Butter Toast (S$0.80 for à la carte, S$3.40 for set) and Nutella Toast (S$1.20 for à la carte, S$3.50 for set). I also noticed an extension which wasn’t ready for that day. It had dim sum options like Siew Mai (S$2.50 for 3 pieces), You Tiao (S$1) and Fried Carrot Cake (S$1).

A new kid on the block I spotted was Sam Kee Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (#02-30). The menu selections include Chicken Rice Value Meal (S$4), Chicken Drumstick Rice (S$5) and a 3 Pax Meal Set (S$18.90).
