For Clementi residents, Prata Alley located at 321 Clementi has been a popular dining spot to relish in various South Indian delights. However, they’re forced to relocate due to a significant hike in monthly rent from the landlord. Their last day of operations will be on 30 Jun 2023; what a tragedy!

The eatery has been situated at its current place since July 2017, which is a smaller mall with a cinema and a few other F&B establishments (as compared to Clementi Mall which is more popular).

The owner, Mr Abdul, was torn between raising his food prices and moving out of Clementi, in search for greener pastures. In the end, he chose the latter. This will mean that he faces a risk in losing regular customers who have already become his friends.

There will also be expenses incurred for moving, renovating, and paying his workers during the transition when the shop is closed.

Prata Alley is known for its various prata, nasi briyani and something unique called ‘The Big One’. It’s basically a roti stuffed with pesto chicken, wrapped with a scoop of mozzarella cheese, and topped with pan-fried chicken pepperoni, capsicums, pineapples, shitake mushrooms, fresh basil and home-made sauce; almost like a pizza.

Many of their loyal customers rave about the variety of food and its taste, as well as its great ambience.

Thankfully, I chatted with the folks who work there and found out that they’re moving to Alexandra Central Mall (next to IKEA); not too far off from their current site. More details will be updated on their social media pages very soon.

We hope that Mr Abdul will do just as well at the new location in the future (fingers crossed)!
