If you are Muslim, stay in the North and are looking to eat halal street food after fasting, the Woodlands Ramadan Bazaar, also known as Bazaria Marsiling, is probably your best option.

Located at the open space next to Woodlands MRT Station, the Woodlands Ramadan Bazaar has over 140 stalls selling a variety of food and drinks. You will be spoilt for choice.

Looking for a dish to fill my stomach, I tried the Fried Chicken Nacho Cheese Garlic Rice Bowl (S$9) from Breadfirst Everyday. The fried chicken was on the dry side and was hard to chew. On the bright side, the garlic rice was fragrant and not overly mushy.

The highlight of the bowl, however, has to be the nacho cheese. Its creamy, rich texture gave the unusual fusion meal a savoury taste and left a pleasant aftertaste in my mouth.

woodlands ramadan bazaar - bbq potato

Still hungry, I ordered a Twisted Potato (BBQ) (S$3.50) from Potato Hub. The potato was bland and lacking in terms of flavour even though it had been liberally sprinkled with BBQ flakes. It made me think I had ordered the Original Version instead. Its saving grace was that it was crisp and was not soggy.

Feeling thirsty, I ordered a Vanilla Oreo (300ml) (S$3) beverage to go from JustDrink.

The beverage was the best thing I ordered. It was aromatic but not cloying. It also did not smack of the artificial sweetness you would expect of an artificial beverage. The only thing I wished it contained was Oreo crumbs or a scoop of ice cream as icing on the cake.

What else to get at the Woodlands Ramadan Bazaar

Do you enjoy eating Western food? If so, the Woodlands Ramadan Bazaar also sells classic Ramly Burgers (S$7 for a Double Patty Burger and S$9 for a Triple Patty Burger).

You can also order Freshly Grilled Otah (5 for S$4.50 for Original Fish, 5 for S$5.50 for Squid/Prawn/Scallop/Rendang/Crab/Sambal Chilli). Like everything else at the Woodlands Ramadan Bazaar, the otah is a tad overpriced. I wouldn’t suggest you to buy it.

woodlands ramadan bazaar - balloon pop

If you are looking for entertainment, pop balloons at the game booth behind. Get 7 darts for S$5, 19 darts for S$10 and 40 darts for S$20. Pop at least 4 balloons for a prize.
