For those that loved RAPPU when it was a pop-up at REVAMP Cocktail Bar, you’ll love it even more at its permanent home along Duxton Road. You know the spiel, RAPPU, just like it’s brother Feather Blade, is hyperfocused on one thing: handrolls. The same rules apply, their set of six handrolls come up to a nice S$36, and if you like a sake pairing it will be S$18 for each roll.
Aside from their usual menu which we had the pleasure of trying the last time, they are also adding a whole host of izakaya bar bites such as Chicken Cartilage Karaage (S$6.50), Furikake popcorn (S$3), and Ei Hire with Nori Mayo (S$8.50).
Which are perfect for knocking back a pint at their 36 seat sushi counter bar that spans across two shophouses. Plus, the futuristic lights across the bar just adds to the mood if I do say so myself.
If you don’t want to a bar seat, you can find yourself a seat in one of the 60 seats around the industrial-chic interior or RAPPU. Go ahead and order some of their speciality drinks such as the Umami Old Fashioned (S$16) or the GinZu (S$14).
If you happen to have a miss The Feather Blade, don’t worry, RAPPU intends to collaborate with restaurants and The Feather Blade is one of them. The Feather Blade will reconstruct its famed gyūdon and burger into izakaya bites. Savour tantalising Beef Bombs which features a smoked quail egg surrounded by tender ribbons of sukiyaki wagyu beef, garlic chips and furikake.
RAPPU is that cool handroll bar that all the other bars want to be when they grow up. It’s always special on opening day and on 24 November 2020, RAPPU will be giving out complimentary handrolls from 7 pm till they run dry. As usual, it’s a game of fastest fingers first, and I know I’ll be there.
