The seventh edition of Orihara Shoten’s Sake Festival Singapore is back on 22 June 2019. This time, there’ll be more than 460 different sakes and liquors and 52 participating brands and companies to sample from.

For one ticket price of S$40, you get to try unlimited samples of all the sake labels!

Previous renditions of the Sake Festival have been a cash/card based transaction for purchasing food or bottles. This time around, purchases will be transacted through official wristbands that can be topped up at stations around the event. Of course, sampling of all sakes is still free.

In addition, there will be a free gift credit of S$5 provided on the first credit-load. For any unused credits, refunds can only be made on the day of the festival (minus the free S$5 credit if it’s unused), so don’t get too drunk and forget to get reimbursed!

Food-wise, four well-known Japanese restaurants will also be participating this year. YATAGARASU, NIRAI-KANAI, KAJIKEN and KAMOSHITA will provide more food options, based on feedback from last year.

Don’t miss YATAGARASU’s Wanko Soba Challenge which is priced at just S$1 to join (selected through balloting). Participants will get to eat as many bowls of Wanko Soba within the fixed time limit.

Eat the highest number of bowls to win a prize!

One of the key sakes to look out for at the event would be the new Dassai 45, which replaces the discontinued Dassai 50.

There’s also a collaboration between indie-pop French band Phoenix and Tatenokawa resulting in the Phoenix Junmaidaiginjo and Phoenix Sparkling. If you’re like me and prefer a fuller palate and fruity notes, do check out the Musubiyui Mashigura Namagenshu too.

I’ve been to Sake Festival during previous years, where the popular sakes finish amazingly fast. You won’t want to come late for this round if you want to sample the good stuff.

Date & Time: 22 June 2019, 1pm – 6pm (last entry at 4.30pm)

Prices: S$40 (pre-sale ticket), S$50 (at the door) | Buy the tickets via SISTIC
