Nestled within Restoran Shang Ji, this duck rice stall has remained a steadfast presence for over 40 years; it’s a place that holds memory for many. Most importantly, it offers delicious duck rice that bring patrons back time and again. It has even been featured in Malaysia’s 8TV food programme— Ho Chak!
The sight of braised ducks hanging at the counter evokes the nostalgic longing for many who are striving abroad. The duck is braised to succulence, and the owner meticulously debones it before serving it atop a bed of herb-infused rice. Finally, it’s drizzled with a thick, flowing gravy— trust me, it’s hard to find duck rice like this nowadays. And I have been craving it for the longest time!
A small portion of duck rice costs only RM8, and a large one, RM10. The stall opens as early as 8am in the morning; be sure to visit them early or you’ll have to join the queue.
