Congrats to Restoran Yee Kar on its recent grand opening! It is yet another exciting addition to the culinary scene at JB‘s Austin Crest. The wide variety of food offered at the coffeeshop has already attracted a significant crowd ever since its soft opening.
It’s eye-catching Tiffany blue paint makes it easy to spot from far away. When the sun sets, you’ll also find lots of people sitting at the outdoor area. So, it’s basically impossible to overlook this shop!
Occupying 2 shop lots, the coffeeshop houses 25 stalls, serving more than 6 kinds of cuisine. One of the popular stalls is the steam fish bee hoon, where the bee hoon is steamed together with the raw fish to perfection.
During the cooking process, it soaks up the broth extracted from the fish, resulting in a rich and umami flavour. In addition to the signature Ginger Chinese Herbs Steam Fish with Bee Hoon (seasonal price), there’s also Steam Prawn (RM18) and Steam Pork Pancake (RM13), all served with bee hoon.
Though primarily a Chinese eatery, Restoran Yee Kar also offers nasi kukus with diverse offerings like fried chicken, curry prawn, curry squid, and other tempting dishes. The charges vary based on the portions you take.
Their selection of food extends beyond these; any cuisine that you can think of, they’ve got it. There are stalls serving local Claypot Chicken Rice (RM11), Red Tomyam Seafood Soup (from RM15) from Thailand, Mala Xiang Guo from China, Takoyaki (RM8 for 6 pieces) from Japan, and even Western food.
