The Singapore Coffee Festival (SCF) is back again this year, bigger AND better at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre! If you missed it last year, make sure you get tickets early this time round. Brought to you by DBS and hosted by The Straits Times, prepare for a weekend of fun from 4 – 6 August 2017.
Being a coffee festival, you can bet there’ll be tons of activities for coffee lovers to get excited about, but even if kopi isn’t your cup of tea, just come and party! Apart from featuring over 80 merchants this year including various cafes and retail shops, there will also be live music, leather crafting workshops and yoga sessions.
Here’s a glimpse of 10 things you can do at the Singapore Coffee Festival 2017 for a little pick-me-up this August:
1. Drink Lots Of Coffee
Meet your daily caffeine intake and satisfy the ‘gram with photo-worthy brews like Coffee in a Cone by the renowned The Coffee Academics, or the magical-blue Unicorn Tears drink by Dapper Coffee.

Apart from pretty brews, you can also expect classic pours from new entrant Jewel Coffee and hipster stalwarts Brawns&Brains, Chye Seng Huat Hardware and Oriole Coffee + Bar.
If you want something to battle the Singapore heat, keep your eyes peeled for the cold brews from 1degreeC, Lorgan & Sons and cold drips from Boyle’s.
Look out for interesting flavours like Masala Cold Brew and Almond Milk Cold Brew!
2. Expand Your Brew Knowledge With A Coffee Degustation
If you’re already a fan of coffee, expand your brew knowledge with a cupping session by Foxhole Cafe and The Pourover Bar.

The cupping session will feature eight night plus coffee beans comprising of at least five Geisha varieties. No clue what I’m talking about? That’s exactly why you need to put yourself down for a session.
Enjoy the depths of flavour and complexities that these rare beans are prized for and learn something new while you’re at it.
3. Try Your Hand At Latte Art
One of the premium coffee sponsors for the Singapore Coffee Festival 2017 is Nespresso, and the coffee heavyweight will be showcasing its latest innovation, the Creatista Plus, at a booth there.
The new coffee machine does all the hard work for you – no need for frothing of milk yourself, so you can focus on the fun part and try your hand at creating the most beautiful latte art.
Make your barista dreams come true and impress your friends and family at home with this bad boy.
4. Stock Up On New Coffee Gear
For coffee enthusiasts who not only enjoy drinking coffee but also enjoy collecting and experimenting with new coffee equipment, you’ll be pleased to know that Stellar M and Boncafe machines will be for sale this SCF!
Purchase a machine and hone your barista skills at home, or up your coffee game with Cores gold filters that prevent oxidisation of your coffee, giving it better flavour.
If you’re not interested in making your own cup of coffee, Keepcup will also be selling its signature eco-friendly reusable cups to help keep your coffee from cafes warm.
5. Participate In Coffee & Cocktail Workshops
Coffee degustation sessions aside, get your barista on by attending Coffee Workshops hosted by Common Man Coffee Roasters, Jewel Coffee and Oriole Coffee. These cafes will be sharing knowledge of specialty coffee, coffee roasting, flavour profiling and the essentials for the home barista.
Seed Coffee and Trunk Coffee from Japan will also be making a special appearance this SCF and are looking to share their love for coffee.
If you’re not that much of a coffee fan, SCF has something else lined up for you! Alcohol lovers can also get involved in this festival in the Cocktail Workshops.

Join The Refinery as they show you how to make exciting coffee cocktails like Espresso Martini, Tiramisu Martini, White French Maid and Red-Eye. If you love coffee AND alcohol… well, need I say more?
6. Attend Creative Workshops
If you’ve had a couple of cups of coffee and are buzzing for some hands-on activities, choose between leather-crafting, candy-making and even #nofilter photography workshops.

Yogis can get their dose of stretching and working out with morning yoga sessions available at this SCF before popping over to a booth to get a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Worried about the children getting bored? Fret not as there will also be family-friendly activities including storytelling sessions to make sure your kids are well-occupied.
7. Support Your Favs At The Aeropress Championships
If the workshops do not entice you, join in the fun at the Aeropress Championships presented by Common Man Coffee Roasters and cheer on your favourite baristas as they battle it out with 35 others to see who has the best brew.
The competition is happening at 6pm on Friday, 4 August, so you can watch the sunset as you take in the invigorating aroma of black coffee wafting through the air.
8. Feast On Delectable Cafe Fare
There’s nothing better than spending time with your loved ones over good food. Enjoy the evening summer breeze on 5 and 6 August in an al fresco setting with delectable dishes from Hyde&Co and Symmetry.
If you were at SCF last year, you would have noticed that Hyde&Co and Symmetry were also there as exhibitors. The food from these cafes were a hit and now they’re back with more!
Keep an eye out for Hyde&Co’s signature Chili Crab Pasta, Asian-Western fusion Pulled Beef Mantou, as well as interesting Bolognese Nachos.
Symmetry is well-known for its impeccable Truffle Fries, and these golden beauties will be available this year so be sure to get them before they run out!
9. Enjoy Live Music Performances
It won’t be a party without good music to go with good food, and the Singapore Coffee Festival 2017 has got you covered. Revel in the sounds of local Indie musical performances on Saturday and Sunday starting from 6pm.

Let local talents like singer-songwriter Inch Chua, Jawn and Lew, the multi-talented Tim De Cotta, local band STOPGAP, and R&B electro-pop Ffion, take you on a musical adventure all night long.
10. Continue Cafe Hopping After The Event
