The annual Singapore Food Festival is my favourite time of the year. With over 20 events happening this year, the three-week period from 12 – 28 July 2019 is every foodie’s dream come true.
This year’s theme is “Savour Singapore in Every Bite”, so get ready for a gastronomical experience. Celebrating our hawker heroes, home cooks and chefs, there’ll be a stunning line-up of events including heritage food tours, theatrical dining experiences and more.
With the events falling under four main areas (Modernity, Culture, Tradition and Art), you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Here are some of the highlights for this year’s Singapore Food Festival:
1. STREAT
On 12 & 13 July 2019, celebrate our food culture during the main event STREAT at The Promontory @ Marina Bay.
You can expect authentic flavours and quirky versions of our local cuisine from the line-up of 12 stalls. From hawker delights like Jin Ji Teochew Braised Duck & Kway Chap to higher-end restaurants like Restaurant Ibid and even bars like Origin Bar, there’s something for everyone.
Mod-sin and fusions dishes like those from Wok In Burger will also make an appearance. Dishes like chilli crab and coffee pork ribs may be familiar for zi char lovers, but have you tried Chilli Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti (S$12) or Coffee Pork Burger (S$8)?
Dates & Time: 12 & 13 July 2019, 5pm – 11pm | The Promontory @ Marina Bay
Prices: Free Admission | S$3 – S$15 per dish
2. Buah Keluak Burger (from Park Bench Deli x Candlenut)
Hungry for more burgers? Park Bench Deli is teaming up with Candlenut for the month of July and for Singapore Food Festival.
The burger and sandwich joint’s collaboration with this Peranakan restaurant has resulted in the Buah Keluak Burger (S$22++). This burger made with the iconic Peranakan ‘black nut’ is more of an acquired taste, with buah keluak in the sauce and patty.
Dates & Times: 1 – 31 July 2019 | 10.30am – 4pm & 5pm – 9pm (Mon – Fri), 9am – 3pm (Sat & Sun) | Park Bench Deli, 179 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore 068627

5. Kueh Kueh Symposium
Step aside, Instagrammable cupcakes. The OG kueh is what’s in trend now, and Kueh Kueh Symposium is here to teach us more about these heritage goodies. This session will be held on 13 July 2019 in the Straits Clan, which is usually members-only.
Look forward to kueh families sharing about keeping the kueh tradition and craft alive. They’re usually more in the background, so this would be a great opportunity to find out more about these yummy kuehs that many of us grew up eating.
Dates & Times: 13 July 2019, 10am – 6pm (four slots with different guest speakers) | Straits Clan, 31 Bukit Pasoh Road, Singapore 0899845
