As we approach the reopening with mounting trepidation, I think keeping a list of new spots to visit gives us something to look forward to. Well, I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, we are a simp for cafes, and there’s absolutely no shame about it. Moreover, when cafes are as pretty as SYIP, I’d say just take my money.

Pronounced as ‘sip’, SYIP is one of Owen Road’s entrants and already looking like the Sunday aesthetic cafe of our dreams. With a wash of white along with light wood accents, that’s punctuated beautiful arches that make every shot of the place swoon-worthy. Now, it’s been known of my disdain for run-of-the-mill cafes that seem to pepper our food scene. However, I think that SYIP has been thoughtful about every element of their menu, so we can only hope for good things.

As for their drinks, there is the quintessential Hot Black (S$4.50) and the Iced White (S$5.5) that are always there for us. However, SYIP does tread off the typical cafe trail with drinks like their SYIP Black Coffee (S$6) that comes with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and cocoa powder. Yes, it does sound like a dream. Otherwise, the London Fog (S$7.50) or the Matcha Strawberry Latte (S$7.50) are lovely little numbers for lazy afternoons.

Now, for that cafe grub. At SYIP, dig into the likes of the Ikura Kombu Capellini (S$16) or the Seafood Rose Linguine (S$19). If not, the classic Big Breakfast (S$18) with scrambled eggs, maple glazed bacon, and sauteed mushrooms never fail to delight. Not to mention, SYIP serves their coffee in Kinto cups which is just another aesthetic cherry on top.

And the good times do keep rolling in; SYIP will be giving 20% off takeaway food and drinks from 15 June till 20 June 2021. Plus, there will be a giveaway, so do keep an eye on their IG page.
