The PASTA Boutique is located just two bus stops away from Bedok MRT Station, and with a short walk to the New Century Food House Coffeeshop, which have plenty of seats available. Not only do they sell homemade pasta, there are other dishes including chicken chop, lamb chop and grilled seabass.
Aspiring to be the “Better Kopitiam Western Food” in Singapore, they have come up with a menu featuring tasty Western food at affordable prices.
We had the privilege of trying the Chilli Crab Pasta ($10.50),a signature dish that the chef recommended to pair with linguine. Once the dish was served, the tantalising aroma immediately drew us in.
There were generous chunks of crabmeat throughout the dish, doused in a mildly spicy sauce that is balanced with a tinge of sweetness.
A clever addition was the thinly sliced lime leaves, which the chef said to mix with the pasta. The leaves cut through the rich pasta sauce nicely and elevated the taste. We could not stop gushing over this dish!
Next up was the Chicken Chop with Herbs & Spices ($8.80). This isn’t any ordinary chicken chop; on the outside, it had a perfectly seared and crispy skin, and on the inside the meat was juicy and supple. The chicken was also well-seasoned with their grind of 12 herbs and spices in total.
The chicken chop was served with a side of sautéed vegetables, and buttery mashed potatoes, which we absolutely adored. Three sauces (mushroom, black pepper and mustard) were available to choose from to pair with the chicken.
The last dish was the Salted Egg Prawn Ravioli ($13.80), which we found the sauce to be underwhelming, perhaps adding more chilli or spice would have made the flavour stand out.
It was filled with minced prawn, which tasted a little mushy from being over cooked. It could have been better if there were bigger chunks of prawn in it to make it more satisfying.
Overall, the food served at The PASTA Boutique is worthy of a try! Other recommended dishes at the stall includes Creamy Bacon & Mushroom Pasta ($9.50) and Seabass with Spicy Salsa Verde ($12.80).
