New 600-seater hawker centre with rickshaw noodles, HK egglet waffles, Mexican tacos & duck confit

It seems that the food scene at Bidadari is gradually improving. Barely a month after the recent opening of Tam Chiak Kopitiam, nearby residents now have an additional dining option with the official launch of Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre on 5 Sep 2024.

With 39 stalls and a seating capacity of 600, the L-shaped hawker centre is quite large. It is conveniently connected to the adjacent Woodleigh Mall by a link bridge. My colleague Rachel and I were a little overwhelmed by the number of food options available here (always a good problem to have).

Now, let me introduce some of the more unique offerings beyond the usual run-of-the-mill options— I’m already eyeing a couple of them for my future features.

Forget about the usual fish & chips and chicken chop, Style Palate (#01-30) offers interesting dishes like Cold Umami Angel Hair (S$6), Vongole (S$8), Duck Confit (S$12) and sides like Kombu & Sherry Fries (S$5).

There’s even all-day brekkie options like Big Breakfast (S$10) and Rosti w Sunny Side (S$6).

As far as I know, I’ve rarely seen Mexican cuisine being sold at food centres, except at Bukit Canberra. Pura Vida Cocina (#01-25) dishes out Mexican rice with varieties like Chicken Tinga (S$6.50) and Roasted Vegetable (S$6.50). There’s Curry Chicken Nachos (S$8.50), Carne Asada XL Taco’s (S$10), and I even spotted DIY Burrito Bowls.

I was curious when i saw the signage of White Lor Mee (#01-27). It’s actually another name for rickshaw noodles. Besides Lor Mee (S$6.50), the stall also features Stir-fried Flower Clams (S$12/S$16) and Prawn Roll (S$5 for 3 pieces, S$13 for 8 pieces).

Look forward to lip-smacking Indian delicacies at Mohamed Danish Prata Paradise (#01-09) like Plain Prata (S$1.30), Prata Tsunami (S$5) and Masala Thosai (S$3.50).

Homegrown brand Hongkong Egglet Ice Cream (#01-40) has an assortment of sweet treats like Ice Cream Sandwich (S$3) and Ice Cream Waffle (S$5). Choose from a dozen flavours like Attap Seed, Blueberry Ripple, Salted Caramel and Durian.

For waffle lovers, you can indulge in the old-school pandan waffles like Pandan Peanut (S$2.90) and Pandan Chocolate (S$2.90). Or you can try the HK egglet variety like the Original (S$3.60).

Fans of Korean and Japanese fare can swing by Liu Ma Bibimbap (#01-36) for crowd-favourites including Kimchi Ramen (S$5.90), Saba & Fried Chicken Bento (S$5.90) and Korean Beef Set (S$6.90).

Feeling like a light snack? Tau Suan You Tiao (#01-06) has an arsenal of golden-brown fried goodies on display. Enjoy Carrot Cake Stick (S$2 for 10), Butterfly (S$1.10), You Tiao (S$1.20) and Sweet Potato (S$1.10).

There’s also Tau Suan (S$2.20) and Beancurd (S$1.50) dessert for ah gong and ah ma to try.

I even saw Liu Kou Shui (#01-32) which I’ve previously visited, known for their unique Japanese fusion rice bowls. There’s also Penang Man (#01-04) from Albert Centre Market and Food Centre which was the talk of the town last year.

It sells Malaysian delights like Penang Prawn Mee (S$5 for soup, S$5.50 for dry) and Penang Assam Laksa (S$6). Menu items on the way include Penang Char Kway Tiao and Penang Style Chee Cheong Fun.

Those who are feeling parched due to the crazy hot Singapore weather need not worry as there are 3 drink stalls. There’s a fruit juice stall, Village Hot & Cold Drinks and Island Drink Delights.

There are so many more stalls I’d love to share, but it’s just too many to cover. The best solution? Stop by Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre and check it out for yourself, of course!
