Singaporean competitive eater Zermatt Neo chows down 18 plates of Penang char kway teow in 40 minutes

Who hasn’t heard of Zermatt Neo? A reigning champion of Food League Singapore, the man has made it to headlines by finishing insane amounts of food. His latest feat is no less impressive— he chowed down a massive 18 plates of char kway teow in mere 40 minutes during his recent trip to Penang.

According to Buletin Mutiara, Zermatt arrived in Penang for the first time on 11 October 2022 to discover the renowned local hawker fare in Penang. He explained that many of his viewers have requested him to travel to Penang and do an eating challenge.

He chowed down 18 plates of the famous Ah Leng Char Koay Teow in an impressive time of 40 minutes. While some of us have trouble finishing two plates, he doesn’t even break a sweat taking many more portions.

“I was hoping that the char kway teow will be good, and it turned out amazing. The char kway teow went down so easily. It was one of the more enjoyable eating challenges this year,” he gushed.

Founded in 1979, Ah Leng Char Koay Teow is known for their creamy duck egg char kway teow topped with jumbo-sized prawns. There are three variations of char kway teow you can order at Ah Leng. First, the Regular CKT without duck egg (RM10), Regular CKT with duck egg (RM11), and the Special CKT (RM15.50) which is topped with mantis prawns.
