
December is a big holiday month for most of us seeing as how it’s festive vibes the whole way through with Christmas and the New Year celebrated barely a week after one another. Celebrations for me typically center around people and food, so naturally I gravitate towards one thing: Buffets.
The Westin Singapore’s Seasonal Tastes restaurant boasts one of the best buffet spreads in the country and this festive season, gather your loved ones and feast on their Christmas and New Year’s Eve buffet specials.

Seasonal Tastes, the hotel’s prime dining venue, is located on Level 32 and is everything a restaurant with a buffet line should be. An interactive kitchen concept awaits and while you’re spoilt for choice with the diverse Asian and international fare, chefs and other kitchen staff are on hand to help and explain the dishes to you.
The ambience immediately gets you excited to eat, and it was hard not to run straight to the mains. I’d definitely recommend working your way up though, because each buffet station was a dream.

The cheeses, salads and cold cuts form an enticing display right at the entrance and make for an excellent way to line your hungry tummy. I’m a sucker for cheese and was this close to just piling everything on the plate, when I remembered some of the other stations that the Seasonal Tastes buffet is known for – Seafood.


Glorious piles of fresh prawns, half-shell scallops, lobsters, crayfish and freshly-shucked oysters gleamed at me and I knew all hopes of a diet was lost. This, my friends, is what I call a celebration.
That uncle or aunty of yours who eats nothing but the seafood at buffets is going to love you!

I mentioned festive and festive is what you’re going to get. In addition to the usual buffet favourites, a selection of hearty roasts have been added to the lineup.

Literally taste Christmas by indulging in Whole Roasted Turkey wrapped with Smoked Bacon, with all the juices locked inside and the meat kept moist and tender.


Or perhaps go for a piece of the Whole Baked Salmon with Curry Scallops, which is cooked to perfection and paired best with glistening roasted potatoes. Other roasts to look forward to include a Slow-roasted Striploin with Black Pepper Crust, Whole Roasted Baby Lamb and a Leg of Ham stuffed with Turkey and Roasted Peppers.

Annnndddd we’re back to amazing seafood with The Westin Singapore’s version of chilli crab. Pro tip: Use one of the soup bowls to contain this saucy goodness and dip crispy mantous in!


Crabs are also cooked in other local flavours like black pepper and salted egg. Roll those sleeves up, get crackin’ and since it’s the season of giving, how about getting the juicy crab flesh out for a sibling?

Don’t forget to check out the other stations where you can personalise your favourite bowl of noodles like laksa and have it just the way you like it. No taugey and extra sambal please!


The dessert section is a festive wonder in itself, with an array of goodies to choose from like ice creams, sorbets, tarts and of course, chocolate fondue.

For the Christmas buffets, look out for Port Wine-poached Pears, and festive yule logs like the Chocolate, Whiskey & Chestnut Yule Log and the Vanilla, Raspberry & Pistachio Cheese Yule Log (pictured).

Get ready to get your drink on because some of the buffet options even include free flow champagne, beers, wines, soft drinks and juices. After all, ’tis the season to be jolly!

With less than a month to go, you seriously need to lock your reservation down. Reserve early and put in a special request to be seated by the floor to ceiling windows. You’ll probably be stuffing yourself silly but just check out that view!
Hang around till midnight at the New Year’s Eve buffet and you might even get a peek at the fireworks.

If you simply can’t get enough of The Westin Singapore’s festive selection, order some homemade classics and roasts to take home and share with the family or your hungry colleagues in the office.
