If you’re a fan of cooking your own food, Kushiya Monogatari will be right up your alley if you’re headed to Japan any time soon.

The restaurant is located a few minutes away from Shinjuku station, and has over 70 types of meat and vegetable skewers that you can dip in batter and breadcrumbs before deep frying in a pot built into each table.

It reminds me a little of lok lok, but tempura-style. The skewer buffet is going for around 3,693 yen (approximately S$43) with taxes included, which is a little on the pricey side, but I’d definitely pay for the fun of breading and frying my own food!

Expected damage: 3,693 yen (S$43)

A love for food and video games, combined with a lack of motivation to exercise, is probably the reason I'm slowly gaining weight.
