Boba fans, you can add one more brand to your list of stores to try. Taiwan’s number one bubble tea store Xing Fu Tang 幸福堂 is here in Singapore!

Mark your calendars for 28 June 2019, because this famous boba brand has opened in Century Square at Tampines.

What’s special about Xing Fu Tang is that they use 100% natural brown sugar for the drinks, without any preservatives or additives — I’m sure you’ll be able to taste the difference!

If the brown sugar pearls taste a little different, it’s because the freshly-made pearls are stir-fried in a wok. This adds a stronger burnt caramelised taste to the drinks, and the pearls are softer in texture as well.

We got a sneak peek of the drinks they have to offer, so you’ll know which ones are worth queuing for.

We definitely had to try their signature drink, the Brown Sugar Boba Milk 黑糖珍珠鲜奶 (S$5.30/cold, S$6.30/hot).

They actually torch the top of the drink, for that extra burnt caramelised gooey goodness. It also has the added bonus of filling the whole bubble tea store with fragrant sweetness.

What about something both Insta-worthy and unique in taste? The Matcha Boba Milk (S$5.90) comes with pink cactus pearls, which I’m sure you’ve never seen before.

I liked how Xing Fu Tang didn’t add any sugar to this drink, so the flavour profile was mostly bitter with a hint of light sweetness from the pearls.

The Strawberry Boba Milk (S$5.90) also came with pink cactus pearls but was much sweeter with a tart finish. It definitely tasted like fresh strawberries.

If you’re looking for something more refreshing, the Mango Smoothie & Rabbit Panna Cotta (S$6.90) is a good choice. Made with blended fresh mango and pink cactus pearls, each sip was fruity and sweet.

It’s super Instagrammable too, because they top the drink with an adorable little rabbit!

Psst, you can also look forward to two types of boba ice cream from Xing Fu Tang. Both the Fresh Milk With Brown Sugar Boba and Chocolate & Strawberry Dream Mix are priced at S$4.50 each.
