A team of Singaporean university students currently studying in National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Management University (SMU) has come together to develop an app named Makan Rescue to curb the issue with food wastage in Singapore.

They started their project on-campus and had students and staff from NUS, SMU and NTU to test drive the project, as well as to ensure the software was bug-free. The food listings are currently only available within the universities’ campuses so that they are able to receive feedback before launching the food listings to the public!

You will be able to find rescue missions via Makan Rescue, where you can browse the different banquets and buffets carrying an excess of food that has not been consumed, via the feed as shown above.

A listing can then be followed and tracked for updates via the app’s notification.
