As the year draws to a close, more and more public spaces are slowly starting to re-open—like playgrounds, entertainment venues, food venues, and the likes. Here’s some good news for all you foodies out there: come 1st December, Chinatown Food Street will be one of the many public areas to recommence its alfresco dining restaurants, and boy are we in for a treat.

All 17 outlets will be back in action, with the addition of 6 new steamboat and BBQ concept stalls.

These restaurants will be serving buffet-style classical Chinese BBQ, Mala Steamboat, Laksa Steamboat, Nabemono Shabu-shabu, Mookata, and Hongdae Korean BBQ. They are priced from S$19.90 to S$23.90 nett per adult and S$12.90 per child (aged 3-12), for up to two diners per time.

To celebrate their re-opening, Chinatown Food Street will be having an “Always 99” offer—all ala carte style items are going at S$0.99, S$1.90, S$9.90 or similar price points across all stalls from December 2020 to January 2021. Each of the new steamboat and BBQ restaurants will also be having a S$9.90 deal for their first 30 customers during dinner time from 1-6 December and char siew rice from Tiong Bahru Meng Kee Roast Duck at only S$1.99 (U.P S$5.00).

The street is steeped in rich heritage and history, and houses are crowned classic names like the Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee, whose Bak Chor Mee recipe has survived five generations and remain unchanged. You can also find all the local favourites like chili crab, roast meats, BBQ seafood, satay, and drink towers along this street.

I can’t wait—the new, emerging horizon is ushering in a fresh beginning for outdoor public life after a period of nationwide lockdown, and I’m sure I speak for all Singaporeans when I say we’re all more than ready to welcome it with open arms.
