Some might be familiar with the first outlet of Canopy Garden Dining at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, which in itself boasts gorgeous greenery and a calming interior. I can’t think of a place more fitting to dine in nature than the heart of Hort Park—which is exactly where Canopy’s second outlet is situated.

Much bigger than its predecessor, Canopy Hort Park seats up to 200 guests and welcomes our furry loved ones too—so that hoomans and pets alike can enjoy a gentle breeze with a side of fries on a slow Sunday afternoon.

The space boasts floor-to-ceiling windows to ensure that ample natural lighting leaks in at just the right angles, as well as enough foliage for you to forget that you’re in the city centre of Singapore.

A start of Smoked Salmon Salad (S$19) is a promising and scrumptious commencement to the meal — all elements on the plate work cohesively in tandem to whet any appetite.

A capellini dish is easily a favourite of mine on any menu, so the Cold Angel Hair Pasta (S$42) is an exciting follow up to the salad. Despite the generous portion of ikura, the dish could’ve scored much higher in my books had the pasta been cooked al dente, and were the truffle aroma stronger.

The Rosemary Chicken (S$25) took me by surprise by how juicy and tender it is. I tend to avoid chicken typically because of how pedestrian it can get, but the rosemary gives the dish a much-appreciated fragrance.

Other dishes worth trying include the Grilled Spanish Pork (S$27) and Dry Aged Beef Burger (S$32), which both possess a great depth of flavour without being too overwhelming.

Stop by for date night or your post-hike meal, and even throw special functions and weddings here. At Canopy’s new space, the possibilities are close to endless. Especially with the social distancing restrictions easing up, here’s hoping that the space will see even more cheer in time to come.
