Now that hotel stays are back on the table and that our SingaporRediscovers vouchers are waiting to be used, the new kid on the block—popular Thai hotel chain Dusit Thani—has arrived and welcomes you with open arms. The five-star Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is so many things; a holiday away from home, a private, romantic couple’s getaway, but my favourite of the lot is how much of a plane spotter’s dream this place is.

Plane spotting at Dusit Thani

As some readers might already know, my love for all things aviation knows almost no bounds, and getting to dine aboard the Restaurant A380 last year reduced me to a kid in a candy shop. Seeing how the resort is a mere 10-minute drive away from Changi Airport, there’s plenty to see for an avid aircraft enthusiast like me. I’ve lost count of the number of times I was working on an article on the bed and leapt toward the window at the low rumble of plane engines, eager to catch a glimpse of a passing B747.

The perfect spot to watch planes is none other than Dusit Thani’s downright gorgeous pool that spans across almost the entirety of the architecture. Wade in the pool or relax on deck chairs and gazebos, with beach umbrellas thoughtfully placed alongside each one. So you’ll be able to catch a tan without the worry of UV rays.

Lunch at Glasshouse

With gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows, Greenhouse at Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is nothing but natural lighting and scrumptious fare.

Fancy yourself dishes across various cuisines—from the heavily spiced Corn-fed Coquelet Tandoori (S$36), to the King Crab Fried Rice (S$31), and a saccharine end to the meal with an amazing Durian Panna Cotta (S$12).

The Khao Niao Mamuang (S$12) or simply Thai mango sticky rice at Glasshouse is easily one of the best I’ve had; three layers of different-flavoured sticky rice really does add that extra touch.

Massage hour at Devarana Spa

If you’re looking to really treat yourself this season (go on, it’s been a rough year, we know), the Devarana Signature Massage (S$220++) is exactly what your body so desperately needs. Combining techniques from Thai, Ayurveda, and Shiatsu influences with aromatherapy, the massage is designed to relax and restore your body the way this staycation was curated to recharge your weary heart.

Given its location, it really is easy to forget that you’re in Singapore while you’re revelling in all Dusit Thani Laguna has to offer. For those looking for transport in and out of the resort, there’s a shuttle bus to and from Expo MRT station, so you have all the exclusivity without compromising on convenience.

It’s high time you rewarded yourself some time to unwind and decompress. At Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore, holiday is never too far away.
