As a sweet tooth, Pantler has been my go-to cafe for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake since its opening at Telok Ayer. That’s probably the reason for my devastation when the eatery announced that they are moving out of the CBD area in early January 2021.

Desperately craving for my usual portion of Ruby Tart (S$8), I’ve since been diligently refreshing Pantler’s social media feed for first-hand news of their reopening at River Valley. Finally, the time has come.

Like me, if you are awaiting for Pantler’s opening, we have good news for you! The cafe has finally reopened its doors serving up plates of mouth-watering pastries and aromatic brews. Back in a bigger and more spacious location, the newly revamped Pantler exudes a minimalistic vibe attributed to its white-washed walls and use of simplistic wooden furnishings.

Here, expect a range of fresh bakes and delectable cakes that are bound to capture your heart and appetite with their picturesque looks and amazing display of flavours.

Pantler’s tangy Ruby Tart aside, the cafe’s Mille-feullie (S$8) is another favourite of mine. Cut through its ‘thousand layers’ and get a bit of pastry as well as creme patissiere in a bite to truly savour the beauty of this decadent sweet treat!

Whilst the cafe’s Strawberry Shortcake (S$9.50) will win the hearts of lovers of all things fruity and sweet, it was their Yatsura (S$8.50) that tickled my fancy. Deemed as one the Pantler’s best selling item, this glossy beauty is a chocolate aficionado’s dream come true as it features a smooth dark chocolate mousse, crunchy hazelnut feuilletine and hazelnut dacquoise.

Pair your slice of Yatsura with a cup of hot tea or a glass of Iced Americano for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up you will never regret.

Looking for more cafes to visit? Why not check out the new SOD Cafe located at Upper Thomson for a hearty brunch fare or Ballad of Anna May for a morning cuppa along Tanjong Pagar if you happen to be around the area?
