New in town: Ballad of Anna May, Tanjong Pagar — Chic Melbourne-inspired Cafe hits town

Another day, another cafe opening. If you have been following our New-in-towns, you will realise how frequent new cafes have been popping up on our sunny island. Inspired by Melbourne’s bustling coffee scene is Ballad of Anna May, a brand new coffee and dine out bar located along Craig Road.

Before you dismiss Ballad of Anna May as any ordinary minimalistic cafe, just take a glimpse at how gorgeous the interior looks! Yes, this cafe is one unlike any other. Step inside and be prepared to be spellbound by the beauty of Anna May’s humble abode—a chic and fashionable area filled with pastel pinks and contrasting forest greens.

Coffee aficionados who are frequent Melbourne travellers will find the coffee beans familiar as the cafe uses coffee beans from Proud Mary Coffee, a speciality coffee roaster, cafe, coffee educator, and retailer based in Melbourne, Australia and Portland, Oregon USA.

Must-have beverage items such as the Latte (S$5.50), Long Black (S$4.50), and Cappuccino (S$5.50) aside, Ballad of Anna May also offers bottles of refreshing cold brews, brewed and bottled fresh in-store using the Ghost Rider beans. When prepared, these beans exude an aromatic fragrance and tinge of fruitness in your cuppa—a flavour which I’m pretty sure I will enjoy.

While at Ballad of Anna May, don’t miss out on the munchies the cafe has to offer. The food items here might be rather slim, but they sure look like they pack plenty of flavours.

Dangerous To Know You (S$13) immediately catches my attention with its oozing cheese centre. As a hardcore cheese lover, I just find it difficult to resist when I see a grilled cheese toastie filled with gouda, cheddar and mozzarella on the menu. YUM!

Elsewhere, if you are looking for something a little healthier and less sinful, Ballad of Anna May also offers a bowl of tasty Granola (S$9) served with yoghurt, fruits, and a healthy seed blend.

This cafe might be less than a week old but with its picturesque interior, I do foresee that it will be crowded in no time. So hurry, beat the crowd and pay Anna May a visit soon before it’s too late!
