A Thai-muslim couple, Yiling and Hykel, has set up a place in Golden Mile Complex selling Seafood Buckets (from S$12). Commonly found in Bangkok’s bustling night market, the seafood bucket comes with an array of seafood tossed in various sauces and is laid out flat on a table for you to get down and dirty with your hands.

Simply named Seafood Bucket, the outlet is muslim-owned and they don’t use any pork or lard. The young couple decided to open up the outlet with the intention of offering halal food options to our Muslim friends who head down to Golden Mile Complex to shop.

The seafood bucket consists of cockles, scallops, mussels, and clams, and can feed up to two pax. The Family Feast Set (up to S$45) will come with one flower crab, prawns, clams, squids and corn on the cob, and can feed up to four pax. Sides like Maggi Noodles (S$1.50)Steamed Rice (S$1) and Crab Cake (S$10) are also available. You will also be able to choose the level of spiciness for the sauces.

Buckets are then served table-side in large metal bowls and dramatically emptied onto brown hawker paper; in true Bangkok night market-style. You’ll also be provided with plastic gloves, wet tissues, and serviettes to clean up after as there are no washbasins available.

If you can’t travel to Thailand, why not travel down to Golden Mile Complex to get your seafood bucket fix?
