The hawker stall, Ah Ee Traditional Hokkien Salted Duck, located in Kaki Bukit, will be temporarily ceasing its operations until further notice. The stall is famous for selling traditional Hokkien duck, which is hard to come by in Singapore.
This was announced via a post on the stall’s Facebook page, in which health challenges were cited as the reason for the closure. The post added that the business hopes to restart in the future with hired staff.
The last day of operations was on Friday, 8 July 2022, and the stall will remain closed for an unknown period of time.
Ah Ee Traditional Hokkien Salted Duck stands out from other duck rice hawkers because of its Hokkien duck, which is prepared using traditional methods. Unlike most ducks, which are brown in colour, their ducks are pale yellow and almost resemble steamed chicken. Their ducks are cooked in water with spices and secret ingredients, and are salted while they are still hot to allow the saltiness to seep into the skin.
The stall is manned by Ah Ee, an elderly man who was taught by his mother to prepare Hokkien salted duck. Ah Ee Traditional Hokkien Salted Duck first opened in Sembawang Hills Food Centre in 2012, before closing for seven years in 2015. They reopened in Eunos Techpark in 2022, where they have been operating since.
