The Robertson Quay area is not known for its cheap eats but just a minute’s walk from the Singapore River brings you to healthy, sustainable and affordable meals and that too within a hotel. I am talking about MEMO Café located at Studio M Hotel.

MEMO Café is an urban garden cafe featuring a green habitat space with lush botanical ambience. This hip, airy joint has a simple motto: EAT, MEET & DRINK. Its prime location makes it the ideal gathering place for friends and even business meetings. With the area’s vibrant vibe attracting an interesting and attractive crowd, I find myself people-watching from behind my sunnies whenever I am here.

Location notwithstanding, MEMO Café’s best asset is its amazing food. They always have some interesting dining promotions running and you can find the latest range here.

Currently, that includes Breakfast to go (S$7++), a 2-Course Set Lunch (S$16++), Happy Gelato (S$1++ for every main course on every Wednesday), and a Weekend Brunch Special (S$6++). Don’t miss out on their Danish Delights (S$5++) available from 8am to 11am daily.

I love their Snoop Hog (S$15) which is pulled pork served in a heavenly brioche bun together with a side of coleslaw.

Remarkable as the food here is, it is similar to what you could get at many cafes and restaurants around the country. If we are talking about the appeal of uniqueness, the standout feature for me was MEMO Café’s vertical herb and salad garden. It has been installed in collaboration with Grobrix, which describes itself as the world’s first modular edible hydroponic wall system.

Better than any generic painting or sculpture, this feature wall of edible greens brings you the freshest possible food when you dine in. The benefits don’t stop there— you also give the planet a hand by cutting down on the carbon emissions that are generated during the farm to table process.

Better still, you can Create Your Own Salad (S$14++). This customised healthy bowl of your favourites comes with 1 Protein, 2 Greens and 3 Toppings. It is available daily from 11am to 5.30pm, until 31 July.

I thoroughly enjoyed my last visit to MEMO Café and I won’t need a memo to remind me to visit again. Hurry and book your seat at their table now!
