This isn’t the Kopitiam your dad used to visit. Kopitiam Corner @ Bedok South Horizon is the newest version of the humble coffeeshop and it is reimagining what the local gathering space can be.

Entirely air-conditioned, this Kopitiam near Siglap CC is also designed to be perceptive of your needs. For example, it will have chairs with conveniently-placed grooves for handbags and umbrellas, similar to what you might find in international coffee chain outlets.

Patrons will have a choice of 6 stalls at Kopitiam Corner @ Bedok South Horizon, each selected through a rigorous vetting process. Among them are names that many Singaporeans know and love such as Beauty Nutritious Soup and Ming Kitchen and Rice Garden, as well as promising new F&B ventures.

Perhaps the most exciting of these is a stall that will specialise in Western & Japanese fare; it will be headed by an ex-5-star hotel chef who has over 20 years of experience in the kitchen. There will also be Halal food options at the Abang Curry stall.

While this new outlet certainly seems to have more flair than your typical Kopitiam, it has wallet-friendly meals, too. The Rice Garden Programme offers mixed rice options from just S$1.50 while ComCare card holders can select 2 vegetables and 1 meat dish for just S$1.50 (S$2.50 for NTUC members).

Healthier Choice sub-500 calorie meals and S$3 Budget Meals are also on the menu at every stall.

Users of the FairPrice app can order at their convenience, pay securely, earn and redeem Linkpoints and even score a 10% discount on all regular-priced items. With the current Early Bird deal, they will earn an additional 0.5% Linkpoints for their purchases.

Kopitiam Corner @ Bedok South Horizon is also poised to roll out a Click & Collect feature. Diners will be able to order from their seat, add customised dishes from multiple stalls and be informed when their cart is ready for collection. I give this idea a Kopi-10 rating!
