Have you ever craved a late-night sweet treat only to find that nothing is open? Late night snackers can now rejoice with Chateraise’s newest 24/7 unmanned shop in Bukit Batok!
Japanese patisserie Chateraise has launched its first unmanned store outside of Japan at Le Quest Shopping Mall in Bukit Batok, Singapore.
This new 24-hour location has a fully automated self-checkout system, allowing consumers to buy their favourite desserts at any time of day without the need for staff help.
The store, which opened in March 2024, offers a selection of Chateraise’s popular sweets, including exclusive delicacies such as Double Fantasy (S$2) and Double Fantasy Sweet Potato Puffs (S$2).
I also liked how Chateraise has a wide variety of seasonal and new items such as my favourite Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Sandwich (S$2.70). Unlike other strawberry ice creams, this one does not taste like artificial flavouring.
The different layers to this sandwich adds to the overall eating experience. The top most layer is a layer of fresh cream ice-cream which encapsulates a gooey strawberry sauce followed by a custard ice cream and cookie crunch all wrapped up in a crispy strawberry chocolate biscuit.
Other interesting items also include these Red Wine Ice Cream (S$2.70) if you are feeling bougie on that day.
To shop at the unmanned store, customers must first download the Chateraise app, then attach a payment method and enter using a QR code.
Items removed from the shelves are automatically put into the virtual cart, and payment is performed upon leave.
This revolutionary retail idea, originally launched by Chateraise in Tokyo, promises to provide convenience for dessert lovers, maintaining fresh supply through daily staff visits to refill and maintain the store.
