Have you heard of bakmi? Singaporean celebrity Chef Bob, known for co-founding the online cookie store Krush and the 9Yards Cafe & Bistro in Sepang, Malaysia, has now opened a stall— Bobmi, in Yishun, specialising in this noodle dish.

The establishment primarily focuses on serving bakmi— an Indonesian noodle dish with roots in Chinese culinary traditions. Bakmi was brought to Indonesia by Chinese immigrants from southern provinces like Fujian in ancient times.

This dish is celebrated for its comforting and versatile nature. Over time, it has become a local favourite and has deeply embedded itself in the country’s culture. The springy noodles featured in the bakmi at Bobmi have a delightful thickness that falls between traditional Chinese thin noodles and udon.

Try their signature Bobmie Sambal Ijo (S$7.90) and Bobmie Sambal Geprek (S$7.90), each featuring tender minced meat and fresh vegetables for a burst of flavour. Feel like enhancing your meal? You can add sides like a chicken cutlet, 2 pieces of beef bakso, or 2 seafood wanton for just S$0.90 each. A chicken cutlet for 90 cents? That’s a deal you can’t miss!

If noodles aren’t your thing, consider their flavourful rice dishes, such as Nasi Bobmi Sambal Ijo (S$7.90) or Nasi Bobmi Sambal Geprek (S$7.90). These dishes come packed with spices that will definitely heat things up! For those with a low tolerance for spice, try the Bobmie Original (S$6.90) or Nasi Bobmi Original (S$6.90) for a mild yet satisfying dining experience.

Head to Yishun today and spice things up with Bobmi!
