Elfuego at Jewel Changi Airport recently took to social media to announce the imminent closure of its only branch at the end of Feb. As a halal extension of the famous local Western cuisine brand COLLIN’S and the only one of its kind, it’s no wonder the news left its Muslim patrons devastated.

All other COLLIN’S outlets are not halal certified, as some of their dishes contain pork.

According to Elfuego’s posts on Instagram and Facebook, they will be taking their last orders on 28 Feb, by 9.30pm. The Jewel restaurant will then officially cease their operations on 1 Mar.

The restaurant is well-loved among the Muslim community for its reasonable prices and atas, high-quality halal Western fare such as steak and lamb. A place like this is, according to customers, a rare find in Singapore, which is why the news of Elfuego’s closure dismayed so many.

For example, the Roots Regenerative Ribeye Steak (S$36) is one of its most popular dishes. The tender ribeye beef, cooked to the customer’s preferred level of doneness, is served with asparagus, onion and roasted potato.

There is also a Set Lunch Menu available on weekdays from 10.30am to 3pm, that allows diners to enjoy their full meal at a discounted price.

Choose between either a 2-Course (S$29.90++) or 3-Course (S$34.90++) Set Lunch which includes any Main Course, a Dessert and an Appetiser. Main Courses under the set menu include the Porcini Mushroom Pasta and Pan-Roasted Barramundi or Salmon.

Elfuego’s Jewel outlet is currently their only existing branch. They previously had a Vivocity outlet in 2023, but it unfortunately shuttered after only a few months of operation.

Customers have suggested that the brand open a new outlet as replacement in areas such as Tampines and Bedok in the East. However, there is yet to be any news on whether or not Elfuego will reopen or expand any time soon after the closure.
