Whenever I long for a hearty sandwich, Subway is one of my top choices to satisfy my craving. I love watching the sandwich artists at work, and of course, the ability to customise my sandwich is a huge draw. I also love that Subway always uses fresh and quality ingredients – soggy, mushy vegetables are not a vibe.

While I have my personal favourite (Cold Cut Trio gang, anyone?), I’m always down to try a new filling whenever it goes on the menu – in this case, that’s the new Spicy Buffalo Chicken Ranch, which is now available at all Subway outlets.

This sandwich combines the spicy,  juicy chunks of Buffalo chicken along with the smooth, tangy  of Ranch sauce

Subway’s recommended recipe for the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Ranch is White Bread, Cucumber, Purple Onion and Lettuce, but of course, you’re free to customise the sandwich however you like. Since this was my first time trying this sandwich, I went with the Subway recommended recipe.

An à la carte 6-inch sub starts from S$8.50, and a footlong is S$14.50. It is also available in sharing bundles. The Buddy Meal for 2 (S$23.50) includes 2 subs, 2 16oz drinks, and 1 Loaded Cheesy Nachos Bowl. The Family Feast for 4 (S$49.90) includes 4 subs, 4 16oz drinks, 10 Black Pepper Chicken Nuggets, 4 cookies, and a Loaded Cheesy Nachos Bowl.

To ensure I had the full Subway experience, I got the signature Cookie and 6 Inch Sub Combo (S$9.90), and because I felt like treating myself, I added a Loaded Cheesy Nachos Bowl (S$6.50 à la carte) for the perfect pairing to my meal.

Other combos include the Chicken Nuggets and 6 Inch Sub Combo (S$11.90), and Soup and 6 Inch Sub Combo (S$10.90).

First up was the star of the day – the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Ranch. The chicken was spilling out of the sandwich, and it took careful maneuvering to ensure that the fillings didn’t fall out when I took a bite.

On first taste, the Buffalo Chicken was tender and quite moist, and I felt the tanginess of the sauce coat my tongue. A moment later, my mouth was on fire. The spiciness of the Buffalo sauce caught me off guard, and I reached for a drink. I have the spice tolerance of a baby, so those with a higher threshold for spice should find the sauce very enjoyable.

As I continued to devour the sandwich, the fire from the Buffalo sauce was soon tempered by the creamy Ranch sauce. Combined with the fresh, crisp vegetables and juicy tomatoes, the sandwich proved extremely satisfying.

The Loaded Cheesy Nachos Bowl was piled high with jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, corn and tons of cheesy goodness, before being finally crowned with a scoop of avocado.

nachos

You can’t go wrong here. Crunchy tortilla chips, loaded up with cheese and avocado, paired with onions and tomatoes – decadent and delicious. My only mistake was biting into a jalapeño, which set off yet another batch of fireworks on my tastebuds. (I really need to work on building a better spice tolerance.)

One bite of the sandwich, followed by bites of the nachos… it’s hard to fully express how much enjoyment this combination gave me, despite my terrible tolerance levels. I fully recommend it!

Expected damage: S$8.50 – $11.80 per pax
