Johor Bahru has no shortage of shopping malls — just like KL. You’ve got the crowd favourites like JB City Square, KSL City, and Paradigm Mall, as well as quieter spots like KOMTAR JBCC and newer lifestyle hubs like THE COMMUNE in Kulai, which opened in 2024. If the latter caught your fancy, there’s another mall coming soon that might catch your interest.
Opening at the end of 2026, Horizon Mall is the latest project by Gamuda Land, set within the Horizon Hills township in Iskandar Puteri. It’s not your typical enclosed mall either.
Designed as an “open mall” with greenery and outdoor vibes, it’s almost similar to Elmina Lakeside Mall in Shah Alam or The LINC in KL. That said, don’t worry about the heat— most of the shops will still be air-conditioned.
Getting there will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Causeway, and since Horizon Hills is directly linked to the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link, it’ll be convenient for both locals and Singaporeans looking for a day out. Close enough for an easy Saturday escape, far enough to feel like a mini break.
The mall isn’t just for Horizon Hills residents either. It’s set to serve people living in nearby areas like Nusa Bestari, Bukit Indah, and Eco Botanic. With 150K square feet of space, you can expect to see familiar names like Village Grocer, Padi House, ChaTraMue, and even a drive-thru Starbucks, with more brands quietly signing on the dotted line.
It’ll also be close to Horizon Square, a commercial hub that’s already fully sold out. With all this coming together, Horizon Hills is shaping up to be one of the more exciting and convenient townships in the area — perfect for a weekend trip or a casual day out.
