Heads up, lor mee lovers, your foodie plans might need a little reshuffling. Keng Heng Whampoa Teochew Lor Mee at Golden Mile Food Centre will be taking a temporary break for hospitalisation leave for 3 months, from 13 Jul to 1 Oct 2025. This beloved lor mee stall will resume operations on 2 Oct.

In a Facebook announcement, the owners wrote: “We will still be open this coming week (7 – 12 July except Wednesday). Do come & get your cravings satisfied before we go on break!” Loyal customers were quick to flood the comments with well wishes and words of support for the elderly husband-and-wife duo behind Keng Heng.
So, if you’ve never had the chance to try their old-school Teochew-style lor mee that sees snaking queues rain or shine, now’s the time. Keng Heng is well-loved for their nostalgic take on this comforting starchy dish, featuring a sweetish, vinegar-forward gravy that sets them apart from the heavier gravies typical of Hokkien-style renditions.

A bowl here starts from S$4, and you can expect thick yellow noodles topped with slices of braised pork, ngoh hiang, crispy fried fish, and a generous dash of garlic, vinegar and chilli — all key to unlocking that full-bodied, well-balanced flavour. Don’t skip the sambal belacan, which brings a sour-spicy punch that fans swear by (be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart!).
With only a few days left before the break, now’s your chance to swing by and grab a comforting bowl (or 2) before Keng Heng Whampoa Teochew Lor Mee goes on a well-deserved rest. We wish the owners a smooth, restful recovery and look forward to their return in October.
