Popular Malaysian seafood stall 蒸鳇xo海鲜蒸煮 King of Steam Seafood (roughly translated as Steamed Sturgeon xo King of Steam Seafood) has just opened a stall right in the West of Singapore, Clementi!

Don’t blame yourself if you haven’t heard of them. The stall is located in a relatively new coffee shop on 713 Clementi West Street 2. The place still has a few shophouses empty, resulting in most assuming the coffee shop is closed.
I was also rather sceptical at first, given the stall’s painfully generic name. But it’s usually the stalls with the most generic names that serve the most unique food, right? Furthermore, the food is good enough for them to have 2 outlets in Malaysia.

Their signature dish, the Chao Zhou Steam Fish with Bee Hoon (S$7), hits your tongue just right with the heat of spicy chilli padi, countered by salty vegetables like lettuce soaked in a clear soup.
Almost every dish also comes with the stall’s unique crystal bee hoon, glassy white bee hoon that pairs wonderfully with any seafood dish.

If you’d rather sample a variety of their seafood delights, try the Seafood Soup with Bee Hoon (S$8). It comes with 2 large prawns, a row of sliced fish, and a trove of mussels ready to be devoured.
There are also slices of bitter gourd on the side if you dare take the plunge. Not me, though.

Finally, bask in the glory of their giant Steamed Otak Soup with Bee Hoon (S$7). As a diehard otak-otak lover, this dish speaks to me on a spiritual level. The impressive slab of otak-otak is almost the size of an adult human’s hand.
