Those who have travelled to Ipoh before know that besides its old-world charm and heritage buildings, it’s also a treasure trove of delicious food. If you work near Raffles City Shopping Centre at 252 North Bridge Road, there’s a new cosy eatery called Taste Ipoh that will be opening on 17 Dec 2025.

taste ipoh - front

Operated by Shan Cheng Ipoh Delicacies, Taste Ipoh is a fresh concept highlighting the vibrant street food scene across Ipoh. We managed to snag an early glimpse of the offerings. The kitchen is helmed by 2nd-gen chefs, who inherited their highly sought-after, beloved recipes directly from their mothers—genuine Ipoh hawkers. The result? Guaranteed authentic cuisine.

taste ipoh - crispy popiah

For a shiok, crunchy experience, the Ipoh Traditional Crispy Popiah (S$4.90) is a must-have. The usual popiah filled with bangkuang and chopped egg is enhanced by stuffing copious amounts of fried flour bits and hae bee, packing each piece with bold, shrimpy goodness.

Since it has been raining so frequently these days, the Taste Ipoh Shredded Chicken Horfun (Soup) (S$12.90) is an excellent choice to warm you up.

The bowl of silky horfun is topped with a trio of peeled prawns, chicken slices, and chives. Prawn oil is added to the soup, lending the lightly sweet broth distinct, subtle hints of the ocean.

seaweed popiah

Seaweed popiah does exist in Ipoh, but it isn’t a mainstream offering. Taste Ipoh puts its own unique spin to this underrated dish by introducing the Signature Golden Crispy Soft-Shell Crab Seaweed Popiah (S$9.90). Stuffed with mayo, crispy soft-shell crab, and fresh cabbage and carrots, the spring roll is wrapped with a layer of popiah skin and seaweed; resembling a Japanese maki roll.

Each piece is light and full of crunchy textures from the fresh vegetables and soft-shell crab, complemented by the creamy mayo for an indulgent finish.

ayam goreng

Those who crave coconut rice can opt for the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berampah (S$13.90), accompanied by an entire fried chicken leg topped with an aromatic blend of spices, boiled egg, ikan bilis, peanuts, and a fiery onion sambal.

taste ipoh drinks

Feeling parched after all that scrumptious food? Get your daily cup of Joe here with the Ipoh White Coffee (S$3 for hot, S$3.70 for cold), Triple Layer Signature Milk Tea (S$3.90), or the Fragrance Coconut Coffee Latte (S$3.90 for hot, S$4.90 for cold).

taste ipoh - overview

For its opening promotion, Taste Ipoh is offering 1-for-1 Ipoh White Coffee as well as 15% off your total bill until 31 Dec 2025. To be eligible, you will need to sign up for their free membership.
