Ipoh Stables Market is the latest addition to Ipoh’s growing list of lifestyle destinations, with a soft launch that began on 19 Dec 2025 and a grand opening scheduled for 18 Jan 2026

Managed by PISM Management in collaboration with Ipoh PTC Sin Yoon Loong White Coffee next door, the market occupies a former horse stable complex within the Perak Turf Club, turning a long-unused heritage site into a permanent community and retail space.

Rather than starting from scratch, the project retains much of the original structure. Former horse stalls have been adapted into shop units, and a restored racing starting gate, estimated to be over 60 years old, now serves as the main entrance.

The market is often described as Asia’s first stable market. Nearly 90 stalls are planned across the site, featuring a mix of local food vendors, fresh produce sellers, artisans, and small businesses that reflect Ipoh’s local culture.

While the full lineup is still coming together, several operators are already open during the soft launch phase, including Bagel Bar, Kay Patisserie and Tea Your Way by Lane Xang.

The market is not designed as a temporary street bazaar either — it offers permanent facilities such as restrooms, prayer rooms, and a nursing room, making it more comfortable for longer visits.

The concept was first developed in April 2025 as a way to highlight the legacy of the Perak Turf Club, which dates back to 1886. After a trial run in August 2025, renovations were completed across 6 lanes, each with a different focus.

Mari Lane is home to coffee brands and casual local food, with Muzi Matcha located at one end. Market Lane centres on traditional food items and fresh produce, including Tambun-grown pomelo, and also houses the market’s management office.

Mata Lane focuses on handicrafts and workshops, such as ceramics, woodwork, and apparel, and includes the prayer rooms and nursing room. Maalaf Lane features shared seating alongside food stalls such as a pizza outlet, bakehouse, and gelato shop.

Manja Lane is more pet-oriented, anchored by the PTC Veterinary Clinic, with additional stalls planned in the future, as well as a virtual sports experience by Multiball Ipoh. Mahu Lane is reserved for events and exhibitions.

Ipoh Stables Market positions itself as a casual, all-day destination. It is less about spectacle and more about creating a usable, everyday space that fits naturally into Ipoh’s lifestyle. Time to add this to your Ipoh itinerary next year!
