A purveyor of castella cakes, the all-new Ah Mah’s Citrus Cotton Cheesecake (S$11) is a sweet and fluffy treat bursting with citrus orange flavours. It’s made using all-natural ingredients, with the addition of fresh orange juice, orange zest and a touch of lemon juice.
Opening my box of Citrus Cotton Cheesecake, a whiff of freshness immediately wafted up my nose. Rectangular in shape, although the cake was thinner and lacked the volume, it remained porous on the side with a distinct golden brown surface branded with an “Ah Mah” logo right in the centre.
Just by cutting into the cake, I could tell that the Citrus Cotton Cheesecake was baked to a near-perfect texture—crumbly on its sides whilst retaining moisture and slight density in the middle. Its piquant orange flavour came in bursts upon the first bite which subtly mellowed out, as the richness of the cream cheese kicked in. The texture of the cheesecake was delicate and fluffy, very much similar to the cotton-soft texture of a soufflé; light on the palate and very easy to eat.
One of the healthier options with less sugar at Ah Mah Homemade Cake, this Citrus Cotton Cheesecake makes an ideal guilt-free breakfast option. Enjoy it together with a cup of coffee or tea to kickstart your day and feel energised!
