Bari-Uma Ramen has recently opened their second outlet at Novena Gardens on 23 June 2022. Hailing from Hiroshima, Japan, they claim to have the richest tonkotsu broth!
At Bari-Uma Ramen’s new Novena outlet, you can spot some fancy Japanese-themed decorations, such as a wall mural inspired by the famous woodblock print, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa“. There is also a Japanese samurai statue used as a decor piece!
Bari-Uma Ramen offers a large variety of ramen, with prices ranging from S$10.90 to S$19.90. The ramen is serve two kinds of broth: tonkotsu and chicken-based.
The Chashu Uma (S$18.90) is a tonkotsu shoyu soup with four pieces of thick grilled chashu. The grilled chashu is slightly salty which goes well with the noodles, and with the number of chashu pieces, one can get a bite of chashu with a bite of noodle.
The Karatama Uma (S$16.90) is a spicy soup with a chicken-base broth, which is topped with two grilled chicken slices and an ajitama, which is egg marinated in a sauce. The spice adds a layer of depth to the rich chicken broth, and the egg helps to balance out the spice.
Besides ramen, Bari-Uma Ramen also serves gyoza and rice dishes. The Unagi Chafan (S$14.90) is eel fried rice, which is marinated eel in a sweet brown sauce served on a bed of scrambled egg.
Aburi Cheese Gyoza (S$8.90 for five pieces, S$16.90 for 10 pieces) is Bari-Uma Ramen’s innovative spin on the classic gyoza. The crispy gyoza is covered with a layer of cheese and is torched to have a smoky finish.
I’m a hopeless ramen-tic so I’ll be dropping in should I pass by Novena.
