New Danga Park JB has giant playgrounds, splash zones & colourful night lights near the checkpoint

Families heading to Johor Bahru now have another spot to add to their itinerary. Officially opened in late May 2026, Danga Park JB is a sprawling recreational space within the Danga Bay waterfront area, located just a short 10 to 15-minute drive from the Causeway. 

Packed with playgrounds, water features and colourful lights after sunset, it’s quickly becoming one of the city’s newest attractions for those visiting with young children.

Scattered throughout the park are several play areas designed for different ages. The standout pieces are the massive tiger and octopus-inspired structures, where kids can climb, crawl and race down slides. 

There are also smaller play zones with gentler equipment that are more suitable for toddlers and younger children. According to the park’s guidelines, the facilities are intended for children aged below 10, while those under 7 should be accompanied by an adult.

On hot afternoons, the water play sections offer a welcome escape from the heat. Spraying fountains and interactive water features provide plenty of opportunities for little ones to cool off and splash around after spending time at the playgrounds.

Another feature that sets Danga Park apart is its elevated walkway. Built entirely with ramps instead of stairs, it allows parents with strollers and wheelchair users to get around comfortably while enjoying views of the surrounding area. 

Come nightfall, the park takes on a completely different atmosphere. Illuminated fountains, colourful lighting and playful projections along the pathways transform the grounds into a vibrant space that feels carnival-like.

Malaysian citizens can enter Danga Park free of charge by presenting their IC or MyKid for verification at the entrance. For foreign visitors, admission fees are set at RM20 for adults and RM10 for children aged between 5 and 12 years old, with tickets available through self-service kiosks.

Combining themed playgrounds, splash zones and a lively atmosphere after dark, Danga Park JB offers another reason for families to venture beyond the malls. Its location close to the Johor Bahru checkpoint also makes it an easy stop for a quick day trip or weekend outing.
