I am sure many folks are still missing the Ramadan Bazaar, longing again for delicious street food. Fear not, as Bazaar Lambak is here to satisfy those hunger pangs, staying from 8 May to 6 Jun 2023 in the heart of Tampines!

As someone who has visited this year’s Geylang Serai Bazaar, I was stoked to hear about this one which is also located in the East. Looks like East may be the best side this time around. Will it be as massive as the one at Geylang Serai? Probably not, but I hopped over to the pasar malam, which is located right next to Tampines MRT, to see what’s in store.

Bazaar Lambak — XXL Sotong King

An item with an extravagant wow factor would be the Wasuuka‘s XXL Sotong King (S$9.90). XXL Sotong King was indeed king-sized, available in a multitude of intriguing flavours like Salted Egg and Paprika!

Taste-wise, the Mayo & Cheesy flavour was nice, but not extraordinary. The batter was lightly seasoned, with a fantastic crunch that went superbly with the chew of the squid. However, the sauces tasted rather basic. Cheesy Mozzarella may a better choice if you are a fellow cheese lover, since it was sold out when we were there.

Bazaar Lambak — Ice Cream Rolls

Of course, Thai Fried Ice-Cream Rolls that are sure to beat the pasar malam heat. With an additional charge of S$1, you can add a second flavour to make some wacky combinations. With rather exciting ones like Lychee or Green Tea Powder, your imagination can truly go nuts.

Me and my colleague definitely did in Bazaar Lambak, going for a pairing of Mango and Brownie (S$6). As odd as it sounds, the brownie gave a hint of chocolatey goodness to the refreshing mango, making it a sweet treat that was impossible to refuse. It does melt quickly, so don’t take pictures for too long!

Bazaar Lambak — Mentaiko Dog

Tired of all the snacky foods and require some filling grub? Kream‘s Mentaiko Dog (S$8) is suitable for relieving hunger pangs, with a wonderfully done mentaiko sauce. It had a subtle kick of spice, tasting like sriracha mayo. I would say that the mentaiko flavour was more on the lesser side and wasn’t as prominent.

Bazaar Lambak — Durian Goreng

The star of today’s show had to be this Durian Goreng (S$10). I know what you’re thinking— a whopping S$10 for only 5 pieces? Yes, it was worth every cent. Biting into the morsel guides you into a durian euphoria, especially with that creamy durian filling. The fried surface was lighted crusted, allowing the durian to truly shine.

There is even busking to enjoy during your meals. From 7.45pm to 10pm on specific days, famous buskers will be performing. Popular performers like Zaiton Sameon and Putri Emily are such examples, so stay tuned for some jazzy tunes.

Looks like hungry folks around the Tampines area won’t have to worry about scarce food options till 7 Jun 2023. Be sure to wear light layers and bring several mouths to completely savour what Bazaar Lambak has to offer!
