MasterChef Singapore Season 2 winner Derek Cheong has quite a few businesses already, and he’s just added one more to his resume. Berempah Bros has opened in Beauty World Food Centre, Chef Derek’s brand-new hawker stall!
For those familiar with Beauty World Food Centre, the stall is next to Jinggho Shokudo. Berempah Bros opened over the weekend on 10 Jan 2026, with many fans of Chef Derek and curious foodies heading down to support him.
Chef Derek previously opened several F&B stalls, including Tamagood, a Japanese rice bowl concept that took Singapore Polytechnic‘s food court by storm. He also opened Twelve Flavours, a high-end private dining concept in Pasir Ris.
The stall’s namesake originates from Ayam Berempah, which literally translates to spicy chicken. I heard it originates from Malaysia, but the dish surprisingly doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page! Oh well, maybe Berempah Bros will popularise it.
Their signature dish is, of course, the Ayam Berempah (S$7.50), a juicy portion of fried chicken meat packed with secret spices, topped with crispy typhoon shelter crumbs and paired with fragrant coconut rice. You can select from 3 cuts of chicken here — Breast, Thigh, and Wing.
If that’s not enough, consider adding some sides such as a Bergedil (S$1.50) or Otah Berempah (S$2).
The most intriguing item on their menu is the Unagi Berempah (S$12). Yes, that price tag is no joke. It’s the most premium item on the menu and something I guarantee will draw eyes for the next few weeks. It’s not every day you see unagi (eel) served in a hawker centre!
I’m not too familiar with Pokémon, but I do know that Charizard is often nicknamed ‘fire chicken’ or ‘fire lizard’. Well, this fire lizard may just land you a free meal at Berempah Bros, with their opening promotion running from 10 Jan to 18 Jan 2026. With an additional S$1.50 meal upgrade, you can grab a Pokémon Inferno X card booster pack.
If you’re lucky and draw a Mega Charizard X SAR or MUR card, you’ll be entitled to a FREE MEAL at Berempah Bros for a month. Do note that the cost of each meal can’t exceed S$10, so don’t be cheeky and try to order the whole menu for free.
