New to the SAVEUR brand family, this whimsical ice cream parlour named Bread & Butterfly has a story that’s as eclectic as its flavours. Opened on 17 December 2019 at Wisma Atria’s Basement 1, Bread & Butterfly is home to both indulgence and adventure.
The parlour features exciting flavours like Apple Cucumber, Blue Vanilla With Black Sea Salt and many other exotic creations.
Bread & Butterfly also has playful installations for Instagram moments as you’re enjoying your ice cream.
With an extensive list of flavours to choose from, I decided to try those that were the most intriguing to me. Other than their unique flavours, Bread & Butterfly also creates one-of-a-kind cones to hold the ice cream.
These cones are known as Lavender Cones, made with fresh lavender, and they’re available at an extra charge of S$1.
We started with the Valrhona Chocolate (S$7/scoop with cone). It’s made with two types of chocolates—75% and 100%. The end product is a potent and luscious chocolate flavour that isn’t too sweet or bitter.
Being a chocolate lover, I can confidently say that this is probably one of the best chocolate ice creams I’ve ever had that reminds me of my favourite Ghiradelli dark chocolate from San Francisco.
The second flavour was a unique blend of sweet and savoury that I honestly never thought could work but Bread & Butterfly clearly proved me wrong. The White Chocolate Miso (S$6/scoop with cone) is a light and refreshing flavour that was quite a shocker for me.
I personally felt that the miso was quite subtle, with the white chocolate slightly overpowering the salty flavour. However, the more I ate it, the more the saltiness came through, which was quite interesting.
For something that’s a little more festive, you can try the Pumpkin & Cinnamon (S$5/scoop).
The earthy and sweet flavour of the pumpkin was very prominent and the cinnamon gave the ice cream a nice woody aroma. The ice cream was also quite creamy with a lovely smooth texture that I particularly enjoyed.
If you’re a fan of berries like me, you’d probably want to try out the Strawberry Tomato (S$5/scoop). The tomato balanced out the tart strawberry flavour really well, bringing out that lovely tangy flavour. It was a refreshing finish after having all the other rich ice creams.
Having tried out all their flavours, I’d say that I prefer the Strawberry Tomato the most because of how refreshing it is. Which one would you try?
