Breadtalk Toilet Paper Cake

Running low on toilet paper? Need an extra roll for the weekend? Breadtalk Singapore has some to spare! While many of us are having a hard time trying to find a spare roll of toilet paper at our local supermarkets, BreadTalk has made their very own in the kitchen.

A well-known bakery brand in Singapore, they have recently launched ROFL (S$10.80), available at three BreadTalk outlets: Sixth Avenue, Toa Payoh HDB Hub and Junction 8, while stocks last.

Whilst also available on Grabfood and BreadTalk’s website, you might want to make sure to be fast and furious as only 100 cakes are produced daily, with people flocking to these pretty realistic cakes like a most sought-after commodity, prying them out of their hands just like real toilet paper.

Their rendition of the toilet paper cake comes after Schuerener Backparadies bakery in Germany, bringing you that daily dose of humour you need and a moment of levity during all this stress.

Breadtalk Rofl Cake 3

This life-like loo roll cake is enveloped in three layers of honey marble sponge, layered with buttercream and finished with a brown fondant concave centre top. I have to say I’m thoroughly impressed with the aesthetics of the cake, Breadtalk Singapore has impeccably captured the intricate details and nuances of actual toilet paper.

As I took my first bite, the cake’s texture was reminiscent of pandan chiffon cake. It was light, delicate and not jadedly sweet. The outer-fondant casing possessed a gummy-like texture, offering resistance when devoured. Though the honey flavouring wasn’t as prominent as I expected it to be, the pure aesthetic of the cake won me over.

For what it’s worth, it was not extremely phenomenal—slightly underwhelming for me. Though I would say it’s still worth a shot in getting your hands on one of these due to its artistic and comedic value.

Speaking of wiping your worries and this bad year away, pick them up or have them delivered to you; it’s sure to make a splash!

Dates & Times: Available at BreadTalk Sixth Avenue, Toa Payoh HDB Hub and Junction 8, Grabfood and their website while stocks last
