One simply can’t discuss Singaporean cuisine without mentioning the ubiquitous chicken rice. It’s cheap, it’s quick, and best of all, it’s lip-smackingly good. Chicken rice stalls are a dime a dozen across our little red dot. While we have already compiled a list of our favourites, here’s a new opening to look out for. Its name? Cluck Republic.

Joining the ranks of Lau Nuong Saigon, this new eatery has found its home along Circular Road. As you’ve probably already guessed, it promises to do right by one thing—chicken rice. This Muslim-owned establishment prides itself on its premium iterations of the iconic Singaporean dish.

If you’re not yet convinced, take it from Head Chef Shahril, who worked with Mandarin Orchard’s Chatterbox. He helms the kitchen over at Cluck Republic and serves up a similarly jazzed up iteration of Hainanese chicken rice.

Have a look at their Steamed Boneless Chicken Rice Set (S$10.95), which presents all of your standard chicken rice components but neatly presented at generous portions. You get a sizeable plate of steamed chicken, a bowl of seasoned rice, a trio of sauces, salad, and a bowl of soup. It’s hard to imagine ever having to leave here hungry.

Of course, for those of you who are on team roasted chicken, Cluck Republic’s Roasted Boneless Chicken Rice Set (S$10.95) has got your back. Here, you get all the sides from before, except the meat is swapped out for crisp-skinned, flavourful chunks of chicken.

Chicken rice aside, there’s also a Prawn Laksa (S$10.95) to look forward to. This one’s chock-full of ingredients like king prawns, tau pok (beancurd), fishcake, and egg. When it comes to laksa, the broth is where it’s at. Here, the restaurant promises a laksa that is all sorts of fragrant, creamy, and spicy.

With such an impressive array of Singaporean favourites underneath one roof, a visit down to Cluck Republic is due. Chicken rice lover or not, I reckon this is a great option to curb all those local cravings.
