To many Penangites, the Dave’s Deli eatery in Queensbay Mall was more than just a dining establishment. It was a place where fond memories were built over hearty plates of Dave’s Famous Roast Chicken. So it was especially heartbreaking when they recently announced on Facebook that the outlet will be closing down on 15 June 2022 after 15 long years.
The post explained that the closure was due to the “unending rising cost of rental”.
“We want to thank all our wonderful customers for supporting us over the years; a gathering place to share accounts of our days, celebrate big events in our lives, or just a meal with friends & family. We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant and that we were able to succeed for as long as we had. We could not have done it without all of you.”
And in case you’re wondering if you now have to make a trip across the bridge just to dine at their Sunway Carnival outlet all the way in Seberang Jaya, fret not! You can still get your favourite Dave’s Original ¼ Roast Chicken along with a slice of the flaky, buttery Original Classic Apple Pie via their delivery partners.
Don’t also forget to keep an eye out as the restaurant added that they are currently exploring new locations on the island to bring back “a new & improved Dave’s Deli.” So keep your fingers crossed!
